In the series of the 9th anniversary of Prof. Soeparwi Animal Hospital and the 72nd Anniversary of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine UGM, community service activities were held with the title”Efforts to Control Cat Populations by Sterilizing and Improving the Health of Cats in the Yogyakarta and Surrounding Areas”, and conducting counseling with the title “Improving Community Understanding About Cat-sourced Zoonoses” with the speaker Dr. drh. Guntari Titik Mulyani, MP and drh. Slamet Raharjo, MP which was held on Thursday 6 December 2018 which was attended by 29 people that concern in animal lovers and observers.
The Sterilization Program was carried out from March to October 2018 by carrying out 28 cat castration and 36 cat ovariohysterectomy. It is hoped that this activity can help the cat lover community with financial problems to sterilize cats, and the public can find out about the dangers of zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted to humans through their pets. The enthusiasm of the counseling participants was very good during this activity, as seen from the many participation and questions that were submitted.
